Bluebirds Fall to Colonels in District Competition

Fort Thomas Highlands dropped its seventh consecutive varsity contest Friday evening, losing to district rival Covington Catholic by a score of 63-26.  Quarterback Brady Gosney completed 29 of his 50 passing attempts for 264 yards and 2 scores.  Running back Grant Murray amassed 124 rushing yards and a touchdown, leading all Highlands rushers.  The 'Birds gave up 502 rushing yards to the Colonels.  Covington Catholic last defeated Highlands in 2006, and since then the Bluebirds won 15 straight varsity contests against the Colonels heading into Friday's game.  The Highlands junior varsity team also came up short against Covington Catholic, losing by a score of 19-15 on Saturday, October 15.  On October 13 the Highlands freshman squad shut out Boone County 55-0.  Highlands concludes district play next Friday, when the 'Birds travel to Dry Ridge to take on Grant County.
