Highlands Drops District Opener

Fort Thomas Highlands, coming off its bye week, came up short against Dixie Heights in the Bluebirds' first district game of the season.  Quarterback Brady Gosney threw for 223 yards and 3 touchdown passes in the losing effort, and receiver Braden Posey led Highlands with 96 receiving yards.  The Highlands defense registered 3 fumble recoveries against the Colonels.  Highlands last lost to Dixie Heights in 2002.  The 'Birds have now dropped 6 straight varsity games, after beginning the 2016 season with a victory over Cooper.  On September 28 the Highlands freshman team lost to Covington Catholic by a score of 20-19, and then bounced back with a 43-26 victory over Conner on October 6.  The Highlands JV squad shut out Dixie Heights 58-0 on October 8 to remain unbeaten against Kentucky competition in 2016.  The Highlands varsity team hosts rival Covington Catholic on Friday, October 14 at 7:00PM.
