Simon Kenton Outlasts Highlands in Offensive Shootout

Fort Thomas Highlands lost to undefeated Class 6A Simon Kenton in a high scoring shootout Friday evening. Quarterback Brady Gosney threw for 394 yards and 4 touchdowns against the visiting Pioneers. Wide receiver Nick Veneman led all Highlands receivers with 141 receiving yards and 3 touchdown receptions in the game. Running backs Jared Pulsfort and Grant Murray amassed 116 yards and 106 yards on the ground, respectively. The Highlands defense did register 2 takeaways in the contest, but had a difficult time containing the potent Simon Kenton offense. The Highlands junior varsity team played 2 games this week, losing to Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle 24-14 on Monday and defeating Simon Kenton 18-14 on Saturday. The Highlands freshman team had a bye this week. The Highlands varsity team has a bye this upcoming week, before heading into district competition.
