Fort Thomas Highlands lost to undefeated Kentucky Class 6A Simon Kenton by a score of 42-3 Friday evening, extending the Bluebirds' current varsity losing streak to 4 games.  Highlands was held to just 1 Jared Dougherty field goal in the contest, and the 'Birds had difficulty containing Simon Kenton's diverse offense.  Running back Nick Kendall led Highlands with 49 yards on the ground, and quarterback Austin Hergott threw for 106 yards in the game.  Highlands has a bye next week and then begins Class 4A district play, which determines playoff eligibility and postseason seeding in Kentucky prep football.

In other action, the Highlands junior varsity (JV) team registered its first 2 losses of the season, falling short to the Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle JV team by a score of 30-6 on September 21 and losing to the Simon Kenton JV squad 34-22 on September 26.  The Highlands freshman team did not play a game this week.
